About Wenger Truck Service
After graduating from high school, I attended community college to study diesel repair. I began my career working at a Case IH dealership, where I gained valuable experience working on farm equipment. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the trucking industry and knew that was the direction I wanted to pursue.
I took a position at a truck repair shop in my hometown, where I was given an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the trucking industry. At the time, I didn't know much about heavy-duty trucks, but I was fortunate to have people willing to give me a chance and help me grow.
From there, I went on to work for a large trucking fleet with nearly 200 terminals across the country. During those years, I gained valuable experience and developed a strong understanding of the importance of preventive maintenance and keeping trucks on the road.
While working for the fleet, I also began doing side work for local truck drivers and small fleets. As that side business continued to grow and demand for my work increased, I eventually decided it was time to go out on my own.
In 2002, I obtained my business permit and started Wenger Truck Service with very little more than determination and a willingness to work. I bought a rundown 1989 Ford diesel pickup and a gooseneck cargo trailer, strapped a generator to the front, installed heat and lights, and began servicing customers wherever they needed me — rain, snow, or shine.
After a couple of years working on-site, I rented a shop from one of my customers and continued to grow the business. A few years later, I moved into the shop where Wenger Truck Service operates today.
What started as a pickup, a trailer, and a lot of hard work has grown into a business built on experience, reliability, and relationships with the local trucking community.
In 2027, we're excited to take the next step as we build a new shop at a new location here in Washington, Iowa.
After all these years, the goal remains the same: provide dependable service, take care of our customers, and keep their trucks moving.
